A Little About Me

My Amazing Parents
I was born and raised in California with two brothers and a sister. She was the oldest, and my two brothers and I drove her crazy. My parents are amazing, and they have been together for over 60 years. I am of Mexican, Spanish, and Native American descent. I married early and had two children. They are adults now in their 30s and oh how time flies!!!! I have a daughter here and she just entered junior high. I am sure she will be asking me for the keys to the truck before I know it.
I got a lot of my personality from my mother. She’s a kind woman who enjoys helping others and loves all people. I am very fortunate to have grown up in the family I had. Times were tough, but that didn’t stop my parents from holding back the love they had for us.
I experienced tough times myself as a young dad with two children and a divorce mixed in as well. Hardship forges strength and I just kept moving forward.

My Amazing Parents
My dream was to be a firefighter and play hockey. I didn’t know how to skate, and hockey wouldn’t pay the bills when you’re 5’ 6” and 145 pounds lol. So, I set my sights on becoming a firefighter. Fire academy, volunteer, apprentice, and then I finally “made it big” and got hired full-time as a professional paid firefighter. I still remember the moment I got the phone call from the chief.
I was able to do what I loved to do: help people and make a difference, however small. I moved to the North Shore of Hawaii over 10 years ago and commuted to work in CA about every 3 weeks. 3 weeks at work and then 3 or so weeks at home. That was hard, but I was able to provide for my family here. It was very rewarding, and I was lucky to serve my community for over 20 years.
I have been a community servant for most of my adult life, and at 54 years of age, I feel I can still do a lot more. That has led me to run for State Representative of District 47. I hope to make a positive difference for my family, my neighbors in my district, and across every island.
